Second harmonic generation in gallium phosphide nano-waveguides

We designed, fabricated and tested gallium phosphide (GaP) nano-waveguides for second harmonic generation (SHG). demonstrate SHG in the visible range around 655 nm using low power continuous-wave pump optical communication O-band. Our structures utilize modal phase matching, such that lower order eigenmodes of are matched to higher harmonic. observe different combinations interacting modes by varying widths waveguides tuning wavelength pump. The presented results contribute development integrated photonic platforms with efficient nonlinear wave-mixing processes classical quantum applications.
